Solar Sharer Offer Calculator
Estimate how much you could save under the new Solar Sharer Offer starting 1 July 2026. Takes 30 seconds.
e.g. running dishwasher, washing machine, or EV charging during solar peak hours
What percentage of your total electricity do you use during daylight hours (6am - 6pm)?
What is the Solar Sharer Offer (SSO)?
The Solar Sharer Offer (SSO) is a new electricity pricing structure taking effect on 1 July 2026. It rewards solar households that export excess energy during the peak solar window (11am - 2pm) with bonus feed-in tariff rates.
Under SSO, participating retailers offer enhanced export rates during the midday solar peak, when solar generation is highest and grid demand is increasingly met by rooftop solar. This encourages solar owners to maximise their exports during these hours.
To participate, you need: a rooftop solar system, a smart meter that records interval data, and to be in an eligible distribution zone within the National Electricity Market (NEM).
Is SSO right for me?
SSO works best for households that can shift their electricity usage away from the 11am-2pm window, maximising the solar energy exported to the grid during peak hours. If you work from home and use significant power during the day, the benefit may be lower.
Keep in mind that SSO plans may come with higher usage rates outside the free solar window. Use the calculator above to estimate whether the trade-off works in your favour.
Key dates
The Australian Energy Regulator (AER) released draft SSO guidelines on 19 March 2026. Final determination is expected 26 May 2026. SSO plans become available from retailers on 1 July 2026. We will update this calculator when final rates are confirmed.
